China Trip, Summer 2006

Shenzhen - 08/11/06

We left Taishan to the city of Shenzhen. Here we took a look at the Window of the World. It's basically a park where they remake many famous landmarks in either actual scale or as miniatures.

Shenzhen - 08/12/06

Today, David and his parents left to fly back home. We still have some days left. I'm jealous; I'm quite ready to go home.

Anyway, we had lunch with my mom's cousins and one of them took us shopping, which of course, makes me happy. At night, we had dinner with my dad's old college friends. In the room next to us, someone got drunk or pissed or something. We heard what sounded like 3 racks of dishes breaking. Heh, crazy.

Shenzhen Shenzhen

Shanghai - 08/13/06

After lunch, we flew back to Shanghai from Shenzhen. Other than that, we really did nothing today.

Shanghai - 08/14/06

Well, we have 2 full days at Shanghai, so we did a little shopping. My mom had such a nice time bargaining everything down that I started to feel sorry for the shop venders. We then went to the Shanghai Book City (shu cheng), a huge bookstore of 6 floors. I thought a place like this only had legit stuff, but alas, we were fooled. I'm pretty sure 4 of the 6 CDs we bought were bootleg. We also went to get our hair cut, although I only got my bangs trimmed. Unfortunately, the guy cut them too short, but oh well, hair grows back.

At night, we had dinner with a friend who we know in the US. He's working in Shanghai for 6 months. It was nice to see a really familiar face, and he felt the same.

Shanghai - 08/15/06

We basically spent the morning shopping on Nanjing road and then rested the rest of the day. I just didn't want to do anything anymore. I look forward to going back to the US tomorrow.
